  1. JLowe,
I thought you did a phenomenal job presenting the facts about your school's dress code. The pictures and text went well together and your voice could be heard clearly. I do see the student's side on some isssues because it is a very strict code. One thing I disagreed with in particular was having shirts touch down all the way to tops of pockets. What about shirts that are still appropriate, but a belt is visible going through the beltloops? I think this is in good taste, but seems to be against your code. Your voice thread was very informative and nicely done! Great job!

  2. JLowe,

My school system does not currently have a dress code. The parents and students are against it but the teachers feel differently as we are the ones that deal with the clothing issues at school. Do you have problems enforcing the dress code within your school?
How does your school handle dress code violations?

  3. Wow, Jeannine, what a grea job!! This is Tami Phipps. I am still working on how to use the voice thread program, and I would love to be able to comment right on your thread. Your voice was very clear and easy to understand. You did a good job of putting pictures with the information you were telling us. To be quite honest, I like the dress code. I wish our school would have one like that. We have parts of yours, but trying to enforce it is another issue. Does your school have it's favorites where some kids can where the clothes and others can't? We do and it is a problem. I am very impressed with your thread. You did a very good job.

  4. JLowe,

I need to correct a statement I made previously. My school does have a dress code but it is not as strict as yours.

  5. Robyn, Jennifer, and Tami,

Thanks for your kind comments. If shirts are tucked in with a belt, then students are not violated the dress code. Yes, since this is the frist year to implement the dress code, we do have problems enforcing it. All first block teachers are suppose to check for dress code violations; however, some teachers do not enforce it. I do not know if it is because they play favorites or because they do not want to take the time to address the violations. Those teachers that do not enforced it causes problems because students complain that they were considered to be meeting the dress code in first block. The first offense is usually an opportunity to change clothing and if a student cannot change clothing, then he/she spends a day in ISS. You can refer to the PowerPoint on my VoiceThread for information about violations.
